Course Overviews

Tactical K9 Applications

Decisions under pressure. Performance in the real world.

The Tactical K9 Applications course is built for handlers who operate in environments where performance matters and mistakes carry consequences.

This program focuses on developing K9 teams capable of deploying effectively in high-risk law enforcement and tactical operations. Handlers will learn to integrate their K9 into team movements, execute searches in complex environments, and apply their dog as a force multiplier during real-world missions.

Realistic Field Training for K9 Handlers

Training is scenario-based and designed to replicate the conditions handlers will face in the field. Emphasis is placed on control, communication, and decision-making under pressure to ensure the K9 team can operate safely and effectively alongside other operators.

The end state is a K9 team that is confident, capable, and prepared to perform when the mission demands it.

Patrol

Built for real deployments, not the training field.

The Patrol K9 Course is built to develop teams that can perform in real-world law enforcement environments, not just controlled training scenarios.

Delivered as a modular program, the course allows agencies to focus on specific operational needs across tracking, tactics, building searches, tactical obedience, and vehicle interdiction. Each module is designed to improve the team’s ability to locate suspects, operate safely in dynamic environments, and apply the K9 as a force multiplier during patrol operations.

Progressive Modules to Build Patrol K9 Teams

Handlers will refine their ability to read the dog, make sound decisions under pressure, and deploy their K9 with control and purpose. Training emphasizes real-world application, ensuring each skill set translates directly to the street.

Modules can be conducted independently or combined into a progressive training program, allowing agencies to target gaps, reinforce existing capabilities, or build a complete patrol K9 team.

Detection

Reliable detection when the call matters most.

The Detection K9 Course is delivered as a modular program that allows agencies to focus training where it is needed most. Instruction is built around core areas that develop both foundational detection capability and real-world operational performance.

Odor Imprinting Module

The odor imprinting module establishes a clear and reliable understanding of the target odor, ensuring the dog has a strong foundation that supports long-term performance. The problem-solving module develops the dog’s ability to work through complex search environments while reinforcing independence and consistency in the trained response. The scenario module places the team in realistic operational conditions where they must apply their training under pressure. Additional modules expand operational capability.

The People Screening Module

The People Screening module focuses on detection in proximity to the public, emphasizing movement, positioning, safety, and clear communication in high-traffic environments. The training develops the K9’s ability to follow the target odor on an individual, incorporating environmental factors and practical deployment considerations. The tactics module integrates detection work into operational and tactical environments, including coordination with patrol or specialized units, movement techniques, and decision-making in dynamic situations.

Each module can be conducted independently or combined into a progressive training program. This allows agencies to target specific gaps, reinforce existing capabilities, or build complete detection teams from the ground up.

Training is tailored to the customer’s mission, ensuring that each block directly supports real-world application.

K9 Gunfighter

Operate effectively in lethal force environments with your K9.

The K9 Gunfighter Course is a modular training program designed to develop the handler’s ability to safely and effectively employ a firearm while operating with a K9 partner. Instruction is built around basic and advanced pistol and rifle marksmanship integrated with K9 handling and can be tailored to meet the operational needs and experience level of the agency.

Safe Weapon Handling and K9 Control

The foundational module focuses on safe weapon handling, fundamentals of marksmanship, and maintaining control of the K9 during firearms manipulation. Handlers develop stable shooting platforms, efficient weapon presentations, and safe movement while managing the dog on lead.

Dynamic Shooting and Decision-Making

Advanced modules build on these fundamentals by introducing more complex shooting positions, movement, target discrimination, and decision-making under stress. Training incorporates one-handed weapon manipulation, transitions, use of cover, and coordination with the K9 during dynamic situations.

Course Emphasis

Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on safety, control, and communication between handler and K9 to ensure effective performance in real-world environments. Modules can be delivered independently or combined into a progressive program, allowing agencies to reinforce fundamentals or advance existing capabilities.

Advanced Skills

Expand your capabilities for high-risk operations.

The Advanced K9 Skills Course is a modular training program designed to enhance the operational capabilities of experienced K9 teams. Instruction is built around three core areas: SWAT K9 integration, K9 tactical combat casualty care, and rope operations/obstacle negotiation, which can be delivered individually or combined based on the needs of the agency.

Tactical Operations

The SWAT K9 integration module focuses on incorporating the K9 team into tactical operations. Training emphasizes movement with a team, positioning, communication, and the effective deployment of the K9 during high-risk missions.

K9 Tactical Combat Casualty Care

The K9 tactical combat casualty care module prepares handlers to provide immediate medical care to their K9 in emergencies. Instruction covers assessment, stabilization, and treatment techniques relevant to operational environments.

Obstacle Negotiation

The rope operations and obstacle negotiation module develops the handler’s ability to safely move with a K9 through complex terrain and structures. Training includes negotiating obstacles, working at height, and maintaining control of the K9 in challenging environments.

Flexible Training Delivery

Each module can be delivered as a stand-alone block or combined into a comprehensive course. Training is tailored to the operational requirements of the agency to ensure it directly supports real-world missions.

K9 Supervisors Course

Set the standard that your unit performs to.

The K9 Supervisors Course is designed to develop the knowledge and leadership skills required to effectively manage and oversee a K9 unit. This program focuses on the responsibilities of first-line supervisors, including program oversight, training management, policy implementation, and operational decision-making.

Supervisor’s Role in Standards

Instruction emphasizes the supervisor’s role in maintaining standards, ensuring accountability, and supporting the development of K9 teams. Topics include evaluating training and operational performance, identifying and correcting deficiencies, managing risk, and ensuring compliance with department policy and legal considerations.

Performance Assessment

Supervisors will learn how to properly assess K9 team performance, review deployments, and provide constructive guidance to handlers. The course also addresses documentation, record keeping, and the management of training programs to ensure consistency and reliability across the unit.

Tailored Training for Agency Needs

Training can be tailored to the needs of the agency, allowing departments to focus on specific areas such as program development, supervision of detection or patrol teams, or improving existing K9 unit performance.

Operational Readiness

The end state is a supervisor who can confidently lead a K9 unit, maintain professional standards, and ensure teams are prepared to perform effectively in operational environments.
