The Patrol K9 Course is built to develop teams that can perform in real-world law enforcement environments, not just controlled training scenarios.
Delivered as a modular program, the course allows agencies to focus on specific operational needs across tracking, tactics, building searches, tactical obedience, and vehicle interdiction. Each module is designed to improve the team’s ability to locate suspects, operate safely in dynamic environments, and apply the K9 as a force multiplier during patrol operations.

OBEDIENCE
The obedience module focuses on establishing reliable control of the K9 in all environments. Training emphasizes on- and off-leash obedience, positional control, recall under distraction, and responsiveness to handler commands to ensure the K9 remains mission-capable in dynamic operational settings.
APPREHENSION
The apprehension module focuses on developing controlled aggression and effective suspect engagement. Training emphasizes targeting, grip development, controlled releases, re-engagements, and handler control to ensure safe, lawful, and effective suspect apprehension.
BUILDING SEARCHES
The building search module focuses on systematic interior clearing and suspect location. Training emphasizes room entry techniques, scent utilization, handler positioning, and K9 indication behaviors to locate hidden suspects in residential, commercial, and complex structures.
TRACKING
The tracking module focuses on locating and following human scent trails. Training emphasizes scent discrimination, track identification, variable surface tracking, and article recovery to enable the K9 team to locate suspects or missing persons across diverse environments.
AREA SEARCHES
The area search module focuses on locating suspects in large outdoor environments. Training emphasizes wind utilization, scent cone recognition, off-leash control, and effective search patterns to locate hidden individuals in urban and rural settings.
HANDLER TACTICS
The handler tactics module focuses on the integration of the K9 team into real-world operations. Training emphasizes movement with cover officers, deployment decision-making, communication, and positioning to maximize effectiveness and safety during patrol operations.
